Mseleku Accused of Lying About Paying Lobola
Reality TV star and well-known polygamist Musa Mseleku has come under fire for misleading the public regarding his alleged marriage to Samukelisiwe Khwela. Despite his claims that he has paid lobola for Khwela, it has been revealed that no such transaction has taken place.Polygamy-themed merchandisePolygamy travel packages
In a recent episode of *uThando Nesthembu*, Mseleku introduced Khwela to his first wife, MaCele-Mseleku, confidently stating that he had already completed the lobola process. However, as the episode progressed, inconsistencies in his statement became evident. Khwela later confirmed that she and Mseleku were still dating when she was introduced to MaCele, contradicting his assertions.
Khwela’s Side of the StoryMarriage counseling
Khwela’s conversation with her mother, which aired on the show, further exposed the truth. She pleaded with her mother to inform her father about her relationship with Mseleku. However, her mother was visibly concerned and admitted that she had not yet spoken to Khwela’s father, especially since Mseleku was his schoolmate and of the same age.
“The last time I spoke to my mother about this, she was not happy,” Khwela revealed during a diary session. “She was shocked and didn’t call me for days.”
Her mother also expressed her doubts, asking, “Are you ready for this? Are you sure you’ll be fine?” She further confirmed that no lobola negotiations had taken place and that Khwela and Mseleku were still in the dating phase.
Cultural Experts Call the Show ‘Fake’
The conflicting accounts of Mseleku and Khwela have led cultural experts to question the authenticity of *uThando Nesthembu*, with some even calling it scripted entertainment rather than a true reflection of polygamous marriage in Zulu culture.
Professor Jabulani Shabalala criticized Mseleku’s approach, stating, “It’s misleading to introduce a girlfriend to the first wife without lobola negotiations. In Zulu culture, this is unheard of and sets a dangerous precedent.”
Another cultural expert, Nomagugu Ngobese, went even further, arguing that the show distorts traditional Zulu values. “This is not our culture; it’s an exploitation of women. Unfortunately, the platform allows Mseleku to continue with this charade, and some women willingly participate because they enjoy the benefits of polygamy.”
Public Reaction and Silence from Mseleku
The controversy surrounding Mseleku’s claims has sparked debate among viewers. Many have accused him of using the show to create false narratives and manipulate public perception.
When contacted for comment, neither Mseleku nor the television channel responded to inquiries.
As the debate continues, one thing remains clear—Mseleku’s polygamous journey is facing increasing scrutiny, with many questioning the authenticity of his claims and the integrity of *uThando Nesthembu*.
